It's been more than a year since I've started journaling. I record my achievements, write about the day, gratitude list, hopes, dreams, secrets, to-do list, ups and downs and much, much more in my journal. A couple of decades ago, people wrote in their journals to record their day's events and happenings, and what they learnt all along. Anne Frank's diary provides a vivid and poignant glimpse into the world of a young Jewish girl living in Nazi occupied Germany. Her diary gives an unsight about how tough life was. Diaries and jouranals should play a major role in one's life. In today's post, I bring to you the benefits/importance of journaling.
One of my best morning routines is journaling. I write my goals for the day in my journal and ensure that I bring them to actualization. Writing your goals is really important. So without further ado, let's get to know more about the world of journaling.
- The benefits of journaling
1. Helps in anti - depression and anxiety, reducing stress. Writing helps improve our mental health. Expressing your emotions and feelings in a normal can help you gather them up to the surface. It's easier to find a solution then. It also helps you reduce stress by getting rid of negative thoughts. Journaling is a great practice for overall stress reduction as well as self-knowledge and emotional healing.
4. Helps improve self-awareness. I like to note about what I did or what I ate in my day. This helps me understand about where I am going wrong and what corrections I am supposed to make. A journal provides you with a written record of your thoughts, so that you can reflect on them more easily than relying on memory. While writing, you may begin to see what is holding you back from the change you want to bring in yourself.
2. Helps you prioritize your time. Journaling helps you accomplish your important work. It makes it easier for you to prioritize time. If you write a To-do list daily, it'll be easier to accomplish than. Outline your goals for the day and ensure that you bring them to actualization because that is how you will learn how to prioritize your crucial time. You'll be capable of finishing your important work beforehand.
3. Helps to set goals and achieve them. "Goals not written down are only wishes." If you don't write your goals down in a journal, there are quite a few chances that you might accomplish them. It's important to write your goals down in a journal and and also ways of how you can achieve them. And I'm sure, that you can achieve so much this way. I myself have written my long-term and short-term goals in my journal. This has helped me achieved a lot in sports and academics. This way, I also get a change to measure progress.
5. Helps you learn from the past. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." If you don't learn from your experiences of life, you ought to repeat the same mistakes. Make lots of mistakes. Yes, you heard me right! Lots of them! But don't repeat the same ones. If you write about adversity or bad decisions in your journal, most probably, you won't end up making the same blunders again.
In addition to these 5 benefits is a bonus.
6. Boosts creativity. A journal is a way to motivate yourself, and this practice helps you become self-confident. You get to explore your emotional side which also helps to unlock your creative side and inspires you with more and more ideas.
I hope that you start journaling after reading about these benefits. It definitely is really good help. There are a different types of journals - health journals, fitness journals, day-to-day life journals, etc. Journaling has given me an insight about how to live a healthy life. I'm sure that it'll help you too.
