For a lot of people Bruno was just a mere store-bought dog, like any other pet dog. He was the most adorable and loving dog I have ever known.
Bruno was born on 25 December, 2018, Tuesday. The first time I laid eyes on him was 6 February, 2019 at 8:19 PM. Dad got him in a cage inside the house.
Little 42 days old Bruno! My sisters and I didn't know that dad was thinking of getting a dog in the house. My mom simply opposed the idea. I had been pleading for a pup for 3 years before Bruno came.
When dad got him, we kids started screaming with both joy and fright (knowing mom would say to give him back to the store owner). But how could someone give away such a little dog with his cute, tiny face and paws. I first thought of telling dad to give him away. But I never did. Because I wanted to keep him.
We got him everything we thought he might have wanted. His cage, his bed, his chewing bones, etc. He was also the best footballer I had ever known (lemme rephrase that). He was the best mouthballer I had ever known.
He was really fast. At first, I used to win at races against him. But as he grew up, he became faster than me. LOL! He had a tiny structure (being a beagle), but was never scared of anything. Even a needle or injection never frightened him. He may have even gotten used to it anyway.
Unfortunately, we all didn't know that dogs cannot eat raisins. We fed him raisins everyday without knowing the consequences. Raisins lead to kidney failure and gradually lead to other organ failures in dogs. If we would've known that, maybe Bruno would have been alive today.
Some dogs even die after 3 or 4 days of eating raisins. But Bruno was strong enough to resist the pain for a long time. He survived after eating raisins for a whole year. In his first blood test results, it said that Bruno's kidneys had ceased working.
After this, he stopped eating food at all. His liver also started getting damaged after not eating food for a long time. But his nutrition requirements were being fulfilled as he was on a drip twice a day (once in the morning, once in the evening).
After not eating food for almost a month, Bruno died on 21 July, 2020.
Bruno, you weren't only a dog to me. You were my companion, my partner-in-crime, and what not.
I'm sorry for feeding you such toxic food that I didn't know could do you such harm. Please forgive me, if you can! I wish you could've stayed with me longer! But you'll always be there, deep down in my heart. I have been loving you and will always do.
Hope you are happy and in zero pain now. Love you, always!
Bruno is so nice 😍 .
